This associate is eligible to participate in a generous benefit package to include a YMCA membership as well as camp and other program discounts.


A Kid Zone Attendant is responsible for providing a safe and supervised play environment for children 6 weeks to 10 years old while the parent/guardian works out at the YMCA. The applicant will work evenings and Saturdays.  


  • Assists in planning and implementing a creative program that is age-appropriate for the children in Kid Zone; (example: craft activities, songs, story time, and creative play for children, etc...).
  • Supervises and is actively involved with children in Kid Zone; responsible for health and safety of children at all times; enforces health codes and good hygiene.
  • Ensures that parents/guardians use the YMCA procedures to check their children in and out of Kid Zone and that all YMCA forms are completed and on file.
  • Leads activities with children; both small and large group (i.e., circle time/values discussion).
  • Attends and participates fully in assigned staff meetings and required training programs.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of equipment and program area, including daily and weekly cleaning lists.
  • Treats all children and families with dignity and respect
  • Promotes positive workplace culture for all staff; engages in behaviors conducive to team building with other staff, such as open communication, encouragement, support and tolerance of each other.
  • Attends appropriate YMCA meetings, trainings, and community functions; demonstrates the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility as a role model in the YMCA and the community at large.
  • Communicates with Childcare Director effectively.

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS (Certificates, Licenses and Trainings must be completed at first available training if not already obtained)    

  •    Must be at least 16 years old. 
  •    Must be Adult, Child & Infant CPR certified or willing to be certified within 30 days from start date

  •    Frequently required to sit, stand and walk.
  •    Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

  •    Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, consistently must lift 25 pounds.
  •    Frequently required to bend, crouch, twist or climb.
  •    Moderate concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks.
  •    Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
  •    Moderate level of complexity for decision making.
  •    Normal time pressure of decision making.



      The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
